Why Does God or the Bible Require Faith?

Why does a belief in God require faith? I shouldn’t accept something if I don’t have proof:

I completely understand & sympathize with these type of questions and doubts that people may have from time to time. I have doubted similar things myself, and even still do occasionally.

However, here is the thing I keep coming back to: Whatever you believe in, it requires faith–simply for the fact that we can’t possibly know details of life’s origins (ever). We weren’t there, and we can only look at both scientific & religious type information to get any clues.

But neither will provide 100% proof. Even if you were able to show that things evolve, that still doesn’t guarantee that life originated that way.

So really in my opinion everyone has “faith.” Either they have faith that there is a God, and they follow that. Or they have “faith” that no God exists, and they choose to believe that. But because science doesn’t provide all the answers either (i.e. how did we get here, and more importantly WHY), then you are going to have to have some form of faith.

So in essence, everyone has faith in a “GOD.” I guess if you choose to believe only in science, then you believe in the science God (the God of things creating themselves for no reason).

Or you can believe other Gods. Personally, I follow the bible, because at the end of the day it makes the most sense, and when I follow it, everthing just seems right. I feel like a better person, and I feel like I do the right thing, and most importantly, it makes me feel that this life isn’t pointless & worthless (because in my opinion if there is no God then life is sick, pointless, and worthless-and we all die in the end).

So don’t feel bad about having doubts or questions. But just keep in mind that nobody (including scientists) have all the answers, and faith is a requirement for any type of belief in life. People go to college, why, because they have faith they will get a high paying job, etc.

If I were you, I would just try to keep thinking about it & try to have an open mind & view both sides of the arguments. Never stop searching for evidence.

But when it comes to evidence, look at both sides. Because you find what you look for in life. If you google “microsoft vista sucks’ it will bring up results. If you search for “microsoft vista is awesome” it will bring up search results (i.e. you find what you look for).

So look at both science & religious explanations. I believe in science, but I believe God works through science, matter, time and space. He created it, He can manipulate it.

Also, another point (sorry for rambling) but who designed the code? In software, computers use 1′s and 0′s. But a software writer has to develop code that manipulates the 1 & 0′s to make them mean something. So sure we have matter, but who created the code (ie genetics, etc.) that made matter do something & mean something? Good question Huh…

If God is a Perfect God, Why Did He Create Evil?

Sometimes people ask, “If God is such a perfect God, then why did He create Evil? Why does the Devil Exist, and why does Hell exist?

These are all great questions, and I am sure almost everyone has thought about it at some point. So what is the answer? Did God create evil?

God didn’t create “evil.” The bible says God created lucifer, but he chose on his own free will to reject God’s glory (due to jealousy and greed & pride), and instead wanted to become like God. In his rejection, he began to oppose & stand for everything God opposes (evil).

God didn’t create evil, however, in his brilliant design, He did allow for free will & individual choice to be made.

Think of it like this: Did a creator of a great computer operating system also create viruses for it? No, they simply created a design of software, and within that design someone could CHOOSE to take what was there & manipulate it towards an evil purpose.

Another example would be the alphabet. Did the creator of all the letters of the alphabet, also create curse words? No, they did not. However, the coding allowed for manipulation of both good or evil. You can decide to arrange words with the alphabet towards a positive purpose (such as love, goodness, happiness).

Or, you can arrange those letters into curse words, and words such as hate, fear, etc.

God didn’t create evil, nor does He like evil. He despises evil. However, His brilliant design allowed for choice. You can choose good, or you can choose evil.

So why did God create hell? According to the bible, God gives us a choice: Seek His way of love & obedience, or reject His way, and live the opposite.

According to the bible, if you choose His way, you will be rewarded by living in eternity of like-minded people. Choose evil, and He will reward you will an eternity of like-minded people.

So it comes down to this. If the bible is true, and God does exist, and according to the bible people will either serve in Hell, or Paradise for the rest of their life according to their choices. They will either be with people that are like them & prefer to live life void of evil. Or they can choose to live a life along with people who accept & even enjoy evil.

About the part of God being Omipotent and all of that. Even though He is outside of the realm of time, and could/has seen all potential past/present/future events, that doesn’t mean He still wouldn’t go on with creation.

I know that if I choose to have children with my wife some day, my children will one day die. Does that mean I am going to change my plans? No, it doesn’t. Because there are other reasons & benefits to have children, even though you know they are going to die one day. Perhaps God also knew everything that would happen, but it would be worth it, because in the end He would have a creation left that chose to love Him & follow His way.
