In the old testament, God repeatedly states that He will provide protection for Israel and the Jewish people, as long as they follow His word. He does hold to his word, but does temperarily allow the Israel nation to be taken over by other nations, as described in the books of Kings and Chronicles.
In the new testament, it actually descrbes Rome taking over the nation, and destroying the temple (which did actually happen several years after it was written).
God also clearly indicates that the land of Israel/Jerusalem will always exist, and ond day He will destroy the earth, and replace it with a new one. It will be the new Jerusalem, and there will be a new temple. That is where people will exist for the rest of eternity. Heaven is only temperary, we actually will be there for a while, but only until the whole end is finished, and the new earth is established. That is in revelation.
I have also heard that in the end times, there is going to be a big war or something against Jerusalem, but supernaturally it is stopped. I believe it is in revelation as well, but I don’t know the specific verse.
