Why I Like Kent Hovind & Hope He Gets Out of Prison (Jail) Soon

I don’t know why, but I really like this creationist guy by the name of Kent Hovind. He is all over the web, and if you have never watched one of his debates or creationists presentations, I would highly recommend it. I have watched several of his debates and presentations over the past few weeks.

I wouldn’t recommend it necessarily because I believe or agree with everything he says (and you probably won’t either), but rather, he just makes some really good points at parts, and is quite entertaining.

He really has this “In your face evolutionists” Swagger that can’t be matched by other creationists or evangelists. That is perhaps the thing I find most entertaining about him. To watch his “video number 1″ on creation, click below. His entire video series can be found online.

Who Is Kent Hovind Anyway? The Good and the Bad

According to Kent, he turned his life over to serving Christ in his late teens. He then went to college, and got a degree in religious education, a master’s degree in education, and then a Ph.D in education. He taught high school math and science for 15 years before getting full time in his ministry.

And before all of the atheists try to tear him down, yes, some of those degrees did come from a non-accredited study course. But hey, does it really matter? There are tons of scientists with a degree from accredited universities that also reject evolution, so what’s the big deal? Does an accredited degree mean jack squat in the grand scheme of things? Um, no! And to be honest, a 5 year old could probably refute evolution.

Anyway, he runs some creationists museum, and goes around evangelizing about creation science. He is a “young Earth” creationist, and frequently debates with many secular people, and occasionally even other Christians (such as the old Earthers). Some of his material is really good, and his debates are also great.

In one debate, he blows Michael Shermer out of the water (and everyone knows it). Michael Shermer is a prominent atheists and writer of “skeptic magazine.” To watch the debate, make sure to click the link below. It is quite good and I enjoyed it. So if you like to see evolutionists and creationists lock horns, check it out.

Why Kent Hovind Is In Prison/Jail?

Kent Hovind was sentenced to jail after neglecting to pay quite a large amount of his taxes, and a few other things (such as building code violations). This, of course, was wrong on his part, and I think he is paying the price for it (and probably with lots of penalties and interest). Even the bible says to pay our taxes!

He is still in Jail, and may have to serve another 3-5 years before getting out. But to be honest, I can’t wait until he gets out. Why? I miss him! I want him up in the faces of these evolutionists with that “Hovind Swagga” that I have come to enjoy. In fact, I think he is perhaps Richard Dawkin’s arch enemy. I think we need guys like Hovind out there doing what he does.

He calls them out on the holes in their theory, and shows them the fallacies of it in a humorous way (at least, I always laugh). In fact, I know they hate to admit it, but he really gets their blood pumping. So much in fact, that many atheists have taken the incredible time to set up entire websites and YouTube videos just trying to make the guy look bad, refute some of his theories, and so forth.

They have probably put in so many man-hours of watching his videos and trying to refute his theories that they probably could have cured cancer by now. You know you are doing something right when atheists go that far! That means you are getting to them! They can’t stand him, and I love it.

So I am not going to sugarcoat the fact that the man was fallible and made a big mistake. He should repent (and probably has), and should pay his taxes from this point forward. I am also not going to say I agree with everything he teaches either, because I don’t agree with some of his theories, and others that he stresses I simply don’t think are important.

But just because he made a mistake, it does NOT erase the work he has done for God, nor does that mean everything he has done is a fraud. The atheists love to insinuate that since he broke the law, the whole guy is a fraud and everything he has ever taught (which appeals to an obvious logical fallacy and they know it).

If that were true, then I guess we have to discount every discovery, teaching, or anything else in history because that person too at some point broke the law, sinned, or did something fallible. Isaac Newton even recorded his sins in a book once. Gasp! Let us throw out his work on gravity, calculus, and more (according to the same logic).

Rather, with Hovind I think Christians need to (to quote Hovind) ”eat the meat, and spit out the bones.” Take the good parts, and ignore his flaws. Pick out the good points for the truth he teaches, and disregard his bad points or mistakes for what it is.  Heck, I don’t agree with the guy on ever single point, but I appreciate the work he does. I think you have to take the bad with the good with any/everyone.

But I can’t wait for this guy to serve his time, settle his debts, and get back on the scene. I love his work! He is dedicated, and sticks with the bible without budging. I admire his faith.

So I am definitely a Hovind fan. Watch some of those videos, and perhaps even some of you will come to admire his sarcastic “you came from a rock if you evolved” swagger.
