Christian Doctrine: A Collection of Articles Explaining and Defending My Views on Doctrines

Since the very early church, there have been disagreements over doctrine and scriptures. Acts 15:39 records the first well-known Christian separation due to doctrine:

They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company.”

People often disagree and bicker about even the most simple documents. Just consider how much the tax code or constitution gets debated daily! Now, consider something as important as the scriptures and man’s relationship with God, and you can imagine that these differences can be even more signifcant and create serious divisions.

Jesus and the disciples knew that doctrinal divisions would occur over time. This certainly wasn’t what Jesus had in mind for his church though. Jesus clearly prayed that he wish his followers would be “one”—just as Jesus and God were one in purpose.

But we all do grow up in different parts of the country, with different denominations, and we all think differently. We often interpret scriptures in different ways, and may come to different conclusions on a certain topic. The bible commands that we search the scripture to divide true doctrine from false doctrine.

Having said all of that, I have articles below that indicate or explain my doctrinal stances on many of the big topics. Let me briefly say, that above all this is what I believe:

  • There is 1 God Almighty–Who created the heavens and the Earth, and everything in it.
  • God sent His son, Jesus Christ, so that we may receive salvation from our sins and inherit eternal life.
  • Jesus Christ is the Messiah, & Son of God. He was crucified, resurrected in life, and now sits at the Father’s right hand.
  • Anyone can receive salvation if they accept Jesus Christ, repent of their sins, and follow the path of God.
  • The bible is the literal word of God, inerrant in its origninal form after it was first penned.
  • There will be a great judgement in the future, and the righteous will inherit eternal life, while the wicked will be cast into the lake of fire.
