What Would Happen If I Suddenly Stopped Believing in God?

The same thing that happened to me when I didn’t previously believe in God. Nothing (except I will probably be more cynical, miserable, and depressed about life because it makes it kind of pointless if there isn’t a God in my opinion)! God gives us free choice and free will on this earth. Believing or not believing in God doesn’t really change our life on earth much. Good and bad things will happen to good and bad people alike. It is more about what happens after we die, and of course, that depends on what we accept and how we live our lives on earth.

I believe in God, I feel much better. But belief in God doesn’t guranatee a rosy life. In fact, Jesus himself said “in this world, you will have trouble.”

How Has Your Belief in God Changed Your Life?

I believe in God/the bible.

Only positive things have come from my belief in this (I haven’t always believed so deeply, in fact I used to consider myself agnostic or atheist.

In general, I am a nicer person and more forgiving. I feel much more secure and purposeful in life. Believing in God makes me feel as if this life means something. It gives me more motivation to try to succeed and continue even when I fail or have problems. It makes me feel comfort when injustice happens to innocent people, because I feel there is a God that will one day make everything right and reward the just and punish evil.

I am so much more positive and nice, compared to when I didn’t believe. When I disbelieved in God, I had a negative, pessimistic outlook on life. I was more rude to people, etc. Not to say that I am in any way perfect, because of course I am not.

But I can say that my spiritual beliefs do provide a lot of comfort, interests, and happiness in my life. Even until death, on my deathbed I will still be somewhat afraid of death, but I will have a peace that I have done all I can do, and if there is a God (as I believe), I will be okay!
