What does the Bible say about homosexuality (sodomy)? Is being gay a sin? Would God really create a person to be gay or bisexual, only later to send them to hell? Would that be fair of God? In this article, I’m going to address all of these questions.
In our culture today, homosexuality is being thrust into everything: commercials, TV shows, movies, sports, books, education, social media, etc. Being gay is branded as normal, exciting, enjoyable, and perhaps even preferable to the “boring” heterosexual lifestyle, of which we have no exciting parades or colorful symbols.
Although most studies suggest that the LGBT community makes up a tiny 2-3% of America’s population, the media and other outlets would have us believe it makes up 95%. Even some “so-called” Christians have been swept up in the homosexual movement, urging others to be “loving” and to accept same-sex marriage as “equal” because “God loves all people” and “we should never judge.” Liberal churches are also quickly compromising, allowing unrepentant and openly practicing homosexuals to participate in fellowship, even going so far as to allow some to serve as deacons, pastors, and so forth–a clear violation of God’s standards and requirements as set forth in the scriptures.
The Supreme Court’s recent passing of the same-sex marriage law reveals just how low America has sank into confusion and immorality. As Dr. Adrian Rogers used to put it, “Sin that used to slink down the back alley now struts down Main Street.” Many homosexual activists are no longer content with acceptance–now they demand celebration of their sin by the other 97% of the population.
In today’s age, anyone suggesting that homosexuality is a sin will likely be met with a barrage of bullying and name calling, including names like bigot, narrow minded, intolerant, old fashioned, fundamentalist, Bible thumper, uneducated, redneck, prejudiced, and the list goes on and on. Interestingly, adulterers, fornicators, or pedophiles rarely (if ever) feel the need to rise up and bully Christians in the way these homosexual activists do, even though Christians also stand against those sins.
Furthermore, the rapidly changing politics of this country may soon lead to persecution, fines, and more for merely disagreeing with homosexuality publicly. In fact, many Christians have already been bullied by the “loving and tolerant” homosexual activists through organizations such as the ACLU or GLAAD. In fact, I’ve seen forum posts and comments by LGBT people laughing about their desires to punish Christians by suing them for “hate speech” or “discrimination.” Some also hope to make churches lose their tax exempt status in the future.
In this study, let us cast aside our opinions about how God might feel about the topic, and instead, let’s do the unthinkable: Let’s open His word and see what He thinks about it. Specifically, I’m going to do five things in this article:
- Examine what God’s word has to say about homosexuality.
- Refute nonsensical arguments that “so-called” Christians and liberals use today to justify or rationalize acceptance of homosexuality as “good.”
- Look at the alarming statistics and facts about this dangerous sexual lifestyle.
- Expose propaganda machines in operation right now to deceive the world, including education, media, entertainment, etc.
- Explain how Christians should treat homosexuals, and offer the free gift of salvation to anyone willing to accept Christ.
Before I begin, let me just say this:
- God would be 100% justified in condemning me to hell, where I would suffer eternal, conscious torment, if it were not for the blood of Christ. I’m a sinner who has fallen short of God’s glory more times than I care to remember, and the only way I’m getting to heaven is by the blood of the Lamb. I wouldn’t trust the best minute I ever lived to get me to heaven, because I’ve certainly behaved wickedly in my life. Having said that, let’s not make a mockery of sin. Let’s call a spade a spade and be done with it.
- I have no hatred whatsoever for homosexuals (individuals), but I do hate any and all sins with a passion. I’m not a “homophobe,” but I do claim to be a “sinophobe.” I hate sin because God hates sin, but I love people because God loves people–so much so, that He sent His son to die on a cross. Fornication (sex before marriage), adultery (sex outside of marriage), bestiality (sex with animals), pornography, incest, pedophilia, etc. are also wicked sins in God’s eyes, and I condemn all of those activities as sinful, wicked, and wrong.
- This article is in no way meant to mock, hate, or demean homosexual individuals. Rather, it is intended to warn against the practice of homosexuality, share the truth in love, and to explain God’s love in His willingness to forgive and grant eternal life to those who repent and believe on His Son.
What Does the Bible Say About Homosexuality?
The Bible mentions homosexuality several times, both in the Old Testament and the New. Every time homosexuality is mentioned, it is considered a very serious sin, often with serious warnings of punishment or judgment from God. Therefore, homosexuals and Christians who are interested in what God’s word says about the topic would do well to actually study it for themselves, and not listen to what the media or society says.
Old Testament References to Homosexuality
The first important reference to human sexuality occurs in the second chapter of Genesis. Here, God creates Adam and Eve (not Adam and Steve), and creates them in the Garden of Eden. God never asked Adam if he preferred a woman or man, or if he was happy with his sexual orientation or gender. He put him to sleep and created a woman, because that’s the way God wanted it done. Marriage between one man and one woman was the first institution ordained by God. Same-sex marriage will never be honored by God. Jesus pointed this out in Mark, chapter 10:
Mark 10:6-8 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
The next reference to homosexuality occurs in Genesis, chapter 9:
Genesis 9:22, 24, 25 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
This passage strongly suggests homosexual behavior by either Ham or Canaan (probably Canaan since he was the recipient of the curse). Noah became drunk, which was a sin in itself, and was apparently raped by either Ham or Canaan. The uncovering of the “nakedness” is common language the Bible uses suggest sexual contact (Leviticus 18). Given Noah’s extreme reaction, it is unlikely they merely “saw” his backside. Furthermore, the Canaanites were later known for extreme sexual perversion.
Next, we have the scene in Sodom, which is where we get our modern term “sodomy,” meaning anal sex. Notice how God considers those engaging in this to be “wicked” and that this sin is “very grievous.”
Genesis 13:13“But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.”
Genesis 18:20 “And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous.”
Genesis 19:4-5 “But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.”
The phrase “that we may know them” has clear implications of sexual activity. The men in this town were so lust-driven that they were going to gang rape Lot’s poor angelic visitors. In a blatant act of judgment, God soon destroys this wicked town for its sexual perversion and other sins.
Next, in chapter 18 and 20 of Leviticus, God gives a very serious warning against homosexuality:
Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Not only do these passages clearly condemn homosexuality, but God’s word uses the Hebrew word “Towebah” for abomination, which is a slightly stronger sense of condemnation than other words such as “Zimmah,” often translated “wickedness.” We can see this difference in the word “wickedness” in the Leviticus 18:17 (referring to taking both a woman and her daughter as a wife), compared to the word “abomination” referencing homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22).
Therefore, God does seem to indicate more of a seriousness about engaging in same-sex relations than some other sexual sins. In fact, take a look at this warning in Deuteronomy about allowing sodomy to take place in the land:
Deuteronomy 23:17 There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.
And in the book of Judges, we see the perversion that took place when individuals did “what seemed good in their own eyes,” a statement that characterizes today’s society. Notice how this scene echoes the scene with Lot in Genesis:
Judges 19:22 Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him. (Underlining mine)
Furthermore, the books of First and Second Kings tell us of the wickedness of sodomy. Homosexual behavior had a direct correlation with wickedness in the land. When sodomy was allowed to run rampant, the land was wicked. When King Asa removed the sodomites, he was praised. The Bible said Asa, Jehoshaphat, and Josiah did what was “right” in God’s eyes when they removed the sodomites and idol worship from the land:
- 1 Kings 14:24 And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
- 1 Kings 15:11-12 And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father. And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
- 1 Kings 22:46 And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.
- 2 Kings 23:7 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
New Testament References to Homosexuality
Christians can see that even though we are no longer under the “law” of the Old Testament Mosaic system, the New Testament also clearly warns that homosexuality is a sin, and those who do not repent of such activity and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Romans 1:26-28 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind [meaning homosexuals], nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Paul gives us a very serious warning that those who engage in the above behavior will not inherit the Kingdom of God. There is only one way out of eternal damnation: Repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ! Interestingly, Paul also addresses what people should do if they have a strong sexual desire:
1 Corinthians 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
Paul, who clearly knew about homosexuality, tells people not to fornicate, and that if they have strong sexual urges, God’s plan is one man and one woman in marriage, as the Bible teaches throughout. In 1 Timothy chapter 1, Paul tells us that the law is there for the disobedient and ungodly, of which homosexuality is given as an example:
1 Timothy 1:9-11 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. (emphasis mine)
Finally, the books of Jude and Revelation tell us of the wickedness of the sin of Sodom, as well as the penalty for such an activity without repentance and trusting in Christ: eternal fire. In fact, Jude clearly says that Sodom is given to us an example, so we should all be warned:
Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
The Bible clearly condemns homosexuality throughout the Old and New Testaments. Friends, Jesus said that you cannot have two masters. Either you’ll love one and hate the other, or you’ll serve one and despise the other. You can’t live in unrepentant sexual immorality and serve God. Either you’ll repent and trust Christ as your savior, and become His slave, or you will be a slave to sin.
False, Deceptive Arguments Used to Justify Homosexuality
Here’s a brief list of the most common arguments used in an attempt to justify homosexuality by liberals, homosexuals, or liberal Christians.
1. Why would God make me gay if He didn’t want me to be gay? I was born gay. I don’t have a choice of my sexual orientation.
God does not create people to be “gay,” any more than He creates a pedophile to lust after children, or an adulterer to cheat on his or her spouse. You have a choice to entertain lustful thoughts or to engage in sexual behavior. Suggesting that you must act on your sexual desires is to be extremely hypocritical to potential fornicators, adulterers, and pedophiles who also share such desires, yet resist them. Claiming to be “born that way” is never a justification for sinful behavior.
It takes conscious effort to engage in sexual sin, and that is what the Bible warns against. The Bible says that “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). It’s true that the Bible teaches that we are born under the curse of sin. We’re sinners by nature. So in a sense it is true that we are all born sinners, and perhaps even more inclined to commit certain types of sins. However, Jesus told Nicodemus that in order to be saved, we must be born again (John 3:7). That’s the only way anyone–gay, straight, or otherwise–can be saved.
2. The Bible doesn’t really condemn homosexuality. Those passages are mistranslated, and God is okay with homosexuality if it is a committed, loving relationship.
Some extremely deceitful teachers have tried to skew some of the many Bible passages and suggest that the Bible never really condemns homosexuality at all, especially those in “committed” relationships. Every single translation in the history of the Bible mentions homosexuality. Homosexuality has always been roundly condemned–not only by Christians throughout the centuries, but even most of the non-believing world up until now.
Finally, it’s absurd to assume that God is okay with homosexuality if it is a “loving, committed” relationship. Fornicators could be committed, but unless they make a formal marriage covenant before God, it’s still fornication. A Pedophile could maintain a “loving” relationship with a child, but unless it is a marriage between one man one woman, it is rejected in the eyes of God. An incestuous relationship could be committed, but it is also condemned by God. The Bible rejects homosexuality as sin, regardless of the level of commitment.2
3. Jesus never personally condemned homosexuality in the New Testament.
First, Christians are to believe that all scriptures are God-breathed, because that’s what the Bible itself teaches:
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
It doesn’t matter whether Paul, Moses, or any other prophet or apostle wrote it—it came from God Almighty. Men weren’t just writing their opinions, they were like pens in the Holy Spirit’s mighty hand:
2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Second, Jesus, in His earthly ministry, certainly stood against sexual immorality, yet there are many sins He never listed specifically by name (pedophilia, for example). When the woman who was caught in adultery was brought to Him, Jesus had compassion on her. Yet he also warned her to “Go and sin no more.” He didn’t say, “Go and spread your love to all people.”
This cotton-candy, lovey-dovey Jesus that liberals try to portray doesn’t exist in the scriptures. Jesus was loving, merciful, and compassionate, yet He also turned over tables, called people hypocrites, and constantly warned of eternal hellfire. His Word clearly says homosexuality is a sin, period.
4. The Sin of Sodom wasn’t homosexuality–they merely weren’t hospitable.
Some suggest the real sin of Sodom wasn’t homosexuality, and they cite passages such as Ezekiel 16:49, which says:
Ezekiel 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
It is true that these sins also characterized Sodom. But here’s what people also need to realize: Sins are like cockroaches–if you see one, you’ve probably got an infestation. Pride, prosperity, and idleness are often sins directly linked to sexual immorality.
Second, although this passage in question doesn’t mention the sin of Sodom as being homosexuality, Jude 1:17 clearly does, as does the original account in Genesis. There’s no point in arguing fancy arguments, or twisting Hebrew or Greek words to suit the homosexual lifestyle. It doesn’t hold up to scrutiny.
5. The Bible is outdated, and the writers simply didn’t understand sexual orientation back then.
As cited in Timothy 3:16 and 2 Peter 1:21, the Bible never suggests that uneducated men were merely penning their philosophies about morality or God. The Bible is Holy Scripture! It is from God. It’s sacred.
To suggest that we mere humans know more about morality or “orientation” than God does, is the most arrogant, blasphemous thing I think I’ve ever heard.
People try to use clever semantics these days by using the word “sexual orientation,” making it seem like something you’re born with. Satan is a master word switcher and liar. Notice how he manipulated Eve in the Garden of Eden. God told them that they could freely eat of EVERY tree of the garden, just not the tree of knowledge of good and evil. How did Satan twist it around? He begins by cleverly asking, “Did God say you can’t eat of every tree of the garden?” It’s a subtle yet clever difference, making God out to be a great party pooper and Eve like a great victim!
God says that we can enjoy sexual pleasure as much as we want, but only in the context of a loving marriage between one man and one woman. What does Satan say today? “Did God really say you can’t enjoy sexual pleasure? Why would He make you gay and punish you for it?”
6. But we’re not under law, we’re under grace. Therefore, it doesn’t matter if I sin, right?
What does the Apostle Paul say about this? Here it is:
Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Never can a Christian justify a sinful behavior by claiming that they are “under grace.” Yes, God forgives sin. Yes, we are under grace. Yes, I’m a sinner saved by grace. But we never use grace as a license to sin. God forbid we do that. We will lose the joy of our salvation, we’ll risk chastisement from God, being disfellowshipped from church, sorrow in our hearts, a loss of testimony, and so forth. It just makes no sense to ignore God’s commands and continue in unrepentant sin.
Even though saved Christians can and do commit sins, John tells us that people engaged in willful, unrepentant sin are not saved:
1 John 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7. But gay people are so nice. I know a gay person! How could homosexuality be such this horrible sin?
Of course there are some really nice gay people. There are talented gay people. There are wealthy gay people. Gay people are people! But being nice, donating money, being generous, or any of these things mean nothing about salvation and sin in God’s eyes. It is not through “good deeds” that we are saved, but by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. In fact, when you try to be “good” on your own (without believing on Jesus), God actually hates good deeds, and doesn’t even hear the prayer of the wicked, unless it is a prayer of repentance:
Proverbs 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Even Ted Bundy, the infamous serial killer responsible for the deaths of an untold number of women, was described by those who knew him personally as a nice, charming, and intelligent guy. Being nice means nothing! Some sinners are nice, some aren’t!
God only sees two qualities in people concerning salvation: Saved or lost. Saved people go to heaven, not necessarily nice people.
8. My child/sibling/friend is gay. I know them to be a gentle and loving person. I can’t imagine why God would not allow them to enter heaven!
It’s often difficult for a Christian parent/sibling/friend to realize their loved one may be struggling with feelings of homosexuality or even openly embracing the lifestyle. You should always love them and try your best to help him or her understand the Bible’s position on same-sex relations, just as you would about other sexual sins such as adultery, fornication, incest, etc.
However, you also must keep in mind that Jesus takes precedence over any person in this world:
Matthew 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
Homosexual relationships can devastate an entire family or friendship. As Christians, we are to love people, not their sin. Supporting the “gay rights” movement, allowing homosexual behavior in the home, participating in same-sex wedding events, or condoning this sin as “normal” or “acceptable” is certainly a way many people are choosing loved ones over God these days. Rebuke your loved one with meekness, pray for them, but we should never celebrate or approve of any kind of sin. Make it known you do not agree with the lifestyle, but treat the person with kindness.
If a coworker came up to me and invited me to a same-sex wedding ceremony, I’d probably respectfully respond with something like, “I’m sorry, but I’m a Christian. The Bible says homosexuality is a sin. It would be wrong for me to attend.”
9. The Bible also condemns eating shrimp, wearing clothes with mixed fabrics, etc. Aren’t Christians so hypocritical to judge homosexuality, when the Bible clearly condemns those things, too?
People often get confused on this point. The Old Testament law contained universal moral laws, but it also contained laws that were specific to the nation Israel for a specific time. Those ceremonial laws were made void at the cross of Christ. The ceremonial/civil laws are the laws most people refer to, which included dietary restrictions, clothing restrictions, etc.
However, laws against sexual misconduct were universal, and they are repeated numerous times throughout the Old and New Testaments. There is no hypocrisy when you understand that Christians no longer need to abstain from certain foods, because our Bible actually tells us that in the New Testament!
Nevertheless, Christians should exercise wisdom with their eating habits, as many foods deemed “unclean” in the Old Testament are not healthy in large quantities.
10. But I thought the Bible told us not to judge?
This is the most incorrectly used phrase in today’s society. The Bible does NOT forbid all types of judgment, only certain forms. Matthew 7:1 forbids hypocritical judgment. John 7:24 warns us against judging by mere appearances only. Christians are also warned against silly, frivolous judgements, such as judging someone for being a vegetarian vs meat eater.
In contrast, the Bible commands Christians to rebuke one another (1 Timothy 5:20), expose evil works of darkness (Ephesians 5:11), correct a sinner in his ways (James 5:20), and be light to a dark world (Matthew 5:15). Part of being “light” is speaking out against sinful practices, false religions, and so forth.
11. All I want is to love someone of the same sex. Why are Christians so against equality and love?
Love has nothing at all to do with it. The Bible commands us to love all people. There is nothing wrong with a man or woman “loving” someone of the same sex. What homosexuals really mean to say is not that they want to “love” someone else, but that they want to engage in sexual relations with them. That’s the problem.
It makes no sense whatsoever to accept homosexual love as “love” any more than it does to accept polygamy (multiple spouses), pedophilia, or rampant adultery as love. It’s sexual perversion.
Allow me to use an illustration. No one ever dares entertain the following argument from a pedophile: “But I just want to love little children.” Pedophilia is, thankfully, almost universally rejected as immoral (although at the rate our country is moving, that’ll probably change soon).
Pedophiles also claim that they’re attracted to children from a young age (“born that way”), and some have maintained a long-term relationship with a younger child. But what does the homosexual suggest to the pedophile who burns in his or her wicked lust for children? “Get over it, it’s immoral to do such a thing, and it doesn’t matter what you feel like or if you were born that way. Go get some help.”
Yet, when a Christian objects to homosexuality on the same grounds of it being “immoral,” suddenly we’re horrible people and bigots. That’s hypocrisy to the fullest! By the way, you should know that there are evil forces at work right now trying to make pedophilia more acceptable. Is Homosexuality Safe and Healthy? Are There Any Concerning Statistics?
Any kind of sin will naturally bring with it a host of problems and dangers. God’s word says this:
Galatians 6:7-8 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Rather than cave from social pressures, we should take an honest look at the data and ask whether homosexuality is safe. First, HIV/Aids has long plagued the homosexual community. Here are some shocking statistics from the CDC.gov (source: cdc.gov/hiv/risk/gender/msm/facts/index.html):
- “Gay and bisexual men are more severely affected by HIV than any other group in the United States.”
- “In 2010, gay and bisexual men accounted for 63% of estimated new HIV infections in the United States and 78% of infections among all newly infected men. From 2008 to 2010, new HIV infections increased 22% among young (aged 13-24) gay and bisexual men and 12% among gay and bisexual men overall.”
- “In 2013, in the United States, gay and bisexual men accounted for 81% (30,689) of the 37,887 estimated HIV diagnoses among all males aged 13 years and older and 65% of the 47,352 estimated diagnoses among all persons receiving an HIV diagnosis that year.”
Aside from the alarming HIV/AIDS statistics, homosexuals also tend to be extremely promiscuous, with 28% of homosexuals having as many as 1,000 sexual partners.
“Bell and Weinberg reported evidence of widespread sexual compulsion among homosexual men. 83% of the homosexual men surveyed estimated they had had sex with 50 or more partners in their lifetime, 43% estimated they had sex with 500 or more partners; 28% with 1,000 or more partners. Statistics also reveal that homosexuals have higher percentages of molestation of their children than heterosexual couples:
“A disproportionate percentage–29–percent–of the adult children of homosexual parents had been specifically subjected to sexual molestation by that homosexual parent, compared to only 0.6 percent of adult children of heterosexual parents having reported sexual relations with their parent. . . . Having a homosexual parent(s) appears to increase the risk of incest with a parent by a factor of about 50.” (P. Cameron and K. These statistics clearly reveal that homosexuality is neither safe nor appropriate sexual behavior, regardless of religious beliefs.
Propaganda Machines Convincing Society that Homosexuality is Good
Despite clear warnings in the Bible, as well as statistics that reveal the dangerous nature of homosexuality, propaganda machines have been running at full speed for many decades, and it appears to be quite successful. Here are some ways Satan is manipulating society to be more accepting of homosexuality, bisexuality, and more.
- Public schools are teaching children that homosexuality is normal, natural, and so forth from a young age. Some schools even have a “gay day,” where they gather children around and talk about prominent or successful homosexuals in an attempt to make it appear good, or assign writing assignments of the same topic. Homework assignments have examples of people with “two daddies” or “two mommies.” Sex-ed classes will normalize many perverted sexual practices that the Bible (and common sense) clearly refute. Know that any child in the public school system will receive a good brainwashing of dangerous sexual practices, under the guise of “teaching them about safe sex and tolerance.” Sadly, they’ll never be taught about God under the pretense of “separation of church and state.”
- Secular colleges crank up the dial even more. In sociology/anthropology and psychology classes, students are taught that homosexuality is a normal behavior and that we should be accepting of it. They are shown examples of different cultures to normalize things like polygamy, incest, LGBT, etc. It’s no surprise that these fields were greatly popularized by atheists such as Freud and Karl Marx. (PS, send your child to a Christian college like Liberty University, which upholds Christian values). Gay pride days, discussion board posts about homosexuality, and classroom discussions are all carefully crafted by teachers to make homosexuality appear normal and good, while also making the Bible appear to be merely one of many “old religions” that are mythical and outdated. Students who stand against perversion are ridiculed, while students who accept it are praised as “modern, tolerant, open, etc.” Trust me, I know. I graduated from a secular university!
- Hollywood movies and television shows are including more and more scenes of homosexuality, rarely telling of the end conclusion of HIV and other risks. Children and adults are constantly being branwashed when watching these movies day after day, week after week. It is de-sensitizing them to the seriousness of sexual perversion. Movies do not accurately represent the 2-3% of gay population. Nearly every single commercial, film, or TV show has to have a gay character. Homosexuality is glamorized and pictured as racy and exciting. You’re now “cool” if you have a gay friend or want to “experiment.” Gay pornography also captures many individuals.
- News outlets like CNN and MSNBC constantly discuss homosexual topics, and have many homosexual anchors leading these discussions to make it appear normal and good.
- Online journalists feature stories that glorify homosexuality, praise celebrities who defend homosexuality, while simultaneously mocking and shaming anyone who disagrees.
- Social media and search engines inflate pro-gay articles and posts, yet ban individuals who stand for God’s word on the topic as “haters.” Gay people posting pictures of kissing or other activity will likely be promoted and praised, whereas a person saying homosexuality is wrong will be called on to apologize.
Satan is using all of these methods and many more to not only brainwash society to accept LGBT issues, but also to reject the Bible. It’s working, and it is destroying families and the moral fabric of our society! What’s more sad is that many may have never embraced the homosexual lifestyle, but the media makes it look so “cool” that they will become caught up in it.
What to Do as a Christian? What if You’re a Homosexual?
The Bible exhorts us to treat all people with kindness and respect. We should love everyone, including homosexuals. We should pray that they repent and trust Christ. We should share the truth of the gospel in a spirit of love, not condemnation. We should be willing to extend acts of kindness to all people. We may do well to pray about how we should approach people, and remind ourselves that we have sinned, too.
The gospel teaches that we’re all sinners unworthy of God’s grace, and that anyone who does not repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ will go to hell as a punishment for their sins. However, Christ died for us so that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. That’s how much God loves us and wants to keep us out of hell. Jesus is the only hope any sinner has to escape this world alive.
Christians should never name-call, antagonize, bully, harass, or threaten a gay or lesbian person, for that would be wicked behavior in itself. Never follow the pattern of ignorant people who rebuke in the wrong spirit (like the Westboro Baptist Church group that pickets homosexual funerals). Nevertheless, there is nothing wrong with maturely declaring truth on your social media outlets, defending God’s word, or making it known what you believe about Jesus and sin, while also treating all people with kindness and respect.
If you’re a homosexual, let me say this: I wouldn’t trust the best minute I ever lived to get me to heaven. I’m counting on the blood of Jesus. I’m a sinner, and even one sin is wicked in God’s eyes. However, you must also make a choice. You can embrace sin or you can embrace Jesus. If you embrace sin, there will be pleasure in it for a season, but God will not be mocked. There will be a consequence to the behavior, both in this age and in the one to come.
A few months ago I was watching a program that featured a gay man in the hospital, presumably on his death bed. His entire face was extremely bruised looking, perhaps from medication or weak immune system. He talked about how he felt compelled and drawn to the homosexual lifestyle, and decided to try it. But as he sat on his bed, soon dying from AIDS, he tearfully said that God had rightly judged him for his sin, and it was wrong. He had placed his faith and trust in Christ, and he was a saved man. He knew what he did was wrong, and he made no apologies or excuses for it. He called sin a sin, and he greatly regretted his decision.
Many people struggling with homosexuality have decided to trust in Christ rather than embrace sin for a season. You can find many testimonies on YouTube of individuals talking about it.
However, others have rejected Christ. That’s your choice to make, and God gives you that choice. I pray that you trust in Christ. The Bible says that if you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, you will be saved. That means you repent of your sin of rejecting Christ and His teaching, and accept Him as Lord and Savior.
Even if you reject Him and scoff at this article (thinking I’m nothing more than a “bigot”), I hope that you remember that Christ stands willing to forgive, even until you draw your last breath. The thief on the cross started out cursing Christ, but he ended up getting saved before he died.
